What are you supposed to do when a child is a total and complete dick to everybody? Do you tell them they’re being a dick? Can you explain that to them without them growing up with self esteem issues like “everybody hates me”?

Okay but my little sister Is actually a total dick and we’ve tried explaining what she’s doing wrong to her but she always does something really passive aggressive or cries or some shit. Like you can’t treat her like an adult cuz it doesn’t work because shell act like a child. But I don’t want her to grow up and still be a dick and I also don’t want her to grow up thinking her own family doesn’t like her even though sometimes I legitimately don’t want to be around her because she’s the most irritating person I know but I’m her brother and I gotta be there for her so I can’t just be like “go away, your a dick”. Like I feel that she might just need to be given long time outs for her behavior so she has time to think about what she’s doing but my mom always goes too easy on her and she might just stew in her hatred anyway
That’s kinda of how my middle nephew is. He is constantly acting like a dick, but I just keep trying to talk to him. It’s a long and arduous process, but just keep persisting. It’s best not to outright and insult the kid though, but you can tell them that it makes it hard to be with them if they continue to behave the way they are.
